Storm Season Prep
Ooooklahoma! Where the wind/hail/tornado comes sweeping down the plains for several weeks every year! As a renter, it’s important to take precautions to stay safe and keep your home safe, too!
First and foremost, if you have outdoor pets - it’s important to make sure they have a space to take shelter from the elements, or a way to get inside if you’re not home when bad weather strikes.
Secondly, keep an eye on your rental during heavy rains for leaks around windows and doorways. For small drafts, you easily attach weather stripping along the bottoms and sides of doors (they are under $10 and you just remove backing and stick onto door!) but if there are heavy leaks around windows, please let us know!
We recommend downloading a local weather app where you can easily access the radar and receive notifications of severe weather should the power go out. You might want to keep a bag at hand with important medications, documents, etc. You’ll also want to understand how to turn off water and gas valves within your home should you need to.
After the storm passes, check the property over for down limbs, gutter damage/runoff, and more! Above all, use your best judgement and stay safe!
