Maximize Small Homes

We love our cozy historic homes here at The Love Nest. Living in a smaller home can come with its challenges, such as limited storage! We have outlined some unique ways to squeeze every bit of storage out of your home without feeling overwhelmed by your stuff!

MAXIMIZE STORAGE

  • Storage ottomans are a super cute way to hide blankets, kiddos toys, and more when not in use. IKEA has countless options for a steal, pair it with a BEMZ linen slipcover and nobody would ever suspect you had to build it by hand!

  • Credenzas are a chic way to maximize the space under your TV without looking like an “entertainment center”, records, dog toys, remotes, all can find a home here and remain out of sight until needed.

  • Baskets and lidded containers are your best friend! We love stacking containers (clear is best so you can see what’s inside) in the restroom and pantry to help us find just what we’re looking for.

  • Use tall upper shelving for things you don’t reach for often, like the waffle maker, that one bougie cooking oil you needed for that Pinterest recipe, etc! Stash away a cute foldable stepstool near the washing machine or fridge.

  • A wooden or metal peg-rail is oh-so-cute while being oh-so-practical! They are super affordable at places like The Container Store or Amazon, or you can often find them at your local Antique or thrift shop
